Exploration

Today, I headed to school to do my music reading, which was pretty quick, and then I attempted to do my art history reading but I got rejected, apparently not officially registered in the class. Well I tried to study. So I don’t feel bad. Haha. I had my first Asian Art history class, which was taught by a Canadian. I could tell because she said “aboot.” She gets very excited. It seems interesting and not too hard, although I do have to do a map quiz. Oh man I am not a fan of geography, but I really should learn the Asian countries and dynasties anyways. Plus it amazingly tied into my music class, as we learned about an ancient imperial bell instrument (which is a bronze), which I then heard in a piece during my music tute. My music tutorial seemed kind of just an extension of lecture really. We just went over the readings a bit and listened to some stuff. I mean it was good and there’s just like 7 of us but it basically seems like the prof just gave the TA some random stuff to go over.
After that I went on an adventure on my own. I just grabbed a bus straight from uni and headed to Central, where I wandered by myself, it was quite fun. Once you know how to catch the bus home it’s quite easy to get around. And I know I can always head to the Queen Mary hospital stop. I didn’t go on the MTR but I almost did, it’s really easy to use too. I wandered around an outdoors market, and bought a pineapple bun at a bakery on a sidestreet. It was really delicious. Then I decided to follow the signs to Man Mo Temple, which I’d read a bit about in my HK guidebook. It was pretty cool. The spirals hanging from the ceiling are all incense:

The temple was under construction, which I think you can see the bamboo that they always use for construction here in HK.

I love the smell of incense, it was pretty small but cool.
Then I ended up at an antiques street. I bought an owl charm in honor of bryn mawr, they have owls everywhere here! I wandered back to the market and bought some plums off the street, yummy.

Then I bought some stuff I’ve been needing, and a webcam so I can Skype! If anyone else has Skype add me, I’d love to chat sometime! Also now have MSN: meganmobrien@hotmail.com. I tried to add everyone on Fbook but add me for sho.
Anyways, it was a really fun afternoon, I enjoyed wandering without particular purpose.
