Light Show, Markets, Getting Rejected by China

Last night was a Friday, but since I'd been clubbing late the night before and planned to be up early (explanation will follow), we decided not to stay out too late. Justin, Remco and I went to see the light show at TST (Tsim Sha Tsui or something like that is the place). It's crazy, it's every night at 8 and you go to the pier and music and narration plays and all the skyscrapers light up across the way in time with the music, with different colors and laser lights and stuff. It reminded me of Disneyland except free and with a city. Then we headed to the night market, which is pretty typical souvenir-y type market stuff, and lots of food that people eat on the street. There are also fortune tellers and palm readers, which we thought about doing. We tried to bargain but then we figured if we got a really cheap reading they would probably give us bad fortunes. Anyways, it was pretty cool, I really like how there is so much stuff to do at night here.
So today I woke up early because we were planning to go to Shenzhen, which it is a city right over the border from HK. Now, I'd heard that I could buy a visa at the border so I figured I'd try that, it was pretty hard to get any definitive information on it. But I headed with my friends all the way over and Americans are the only nationality that can't buy a visa at the border. Thanks USA. Well now I know. So yeah, my friends left and I was on my own, so I decided to adventure and get off at a random stop on the railway. I did, and I was around the New Territories somewhere, Tai Wai I think? It was kind of cool not to be somewhere with a million foreigners like in the city. I just wandered the streets a bit, it was cool to just walk around. I found a little trail of some kind and wandered uphill for a bit, but I think it hadn't been used for a while because it was blocked by some fallen trees.

Plus, I probably shouldn't have wandered too far in by myself. It was cool though. Then I started to head back, although now I've found out I was one stop away from Sha Tin, which has cool temples and a river and stuff, so I wish I'd known to go there. Oh well. I went to Mong Kok for some shopping therapy and bought some cheap stuff at the market, and a bubble tea of course. Then I headed home. Tonight I'll probably go out at least for a little while.
